Antoinette Thompson, a self taught artist who grew up on the Navajo Reservation, started painting in 2010 as an outlet after rehabilitation from drugs and alcohol. Since then, she has traveled the country showing her art in galleries and fairs throughout the southwest.

”I love art because I get to tell my thoughts and express myself with colors. If I told you in words, they’d be plain black and white and that’s just too boring.” Thompson has thrived as emerging artist through foregoing the traditional Native American imagery for her own Abstract Expressionism. Thompson paints what she feels opposed to painting what she sees or what she’s expected to paint.
